A total of 39 expedition teams comprising 373 climbers from various countries have got permission to scale world's highest peak this spring season according to Department of Tourism,

Similarly, some 100 climbers from eight expedition teams, 19 climbers of two teams and 25 climbers of two teams are in final preparation to climb  Lhotse, Nuptse and Ama Dablam respectively.

May is considered best month of spring season to climb Khumbu Himalayas in terms of favorable weather there.

Mt. Everest has already recorded two tragedies including the deaths of famous Swiss climber Ueli Steck and the 86-year-old Nepali climber Min Bahadur Sherchan this year.

More than 19 climbers, including high-altitude guides and helpers.  lost their lives on April 25 in 2015 due to avalanches triggered by the devastating April 25 earthquake.

Meanwhile, US-based South African Ryan Sean Davy, 43,  who tried to climb Everest in Nepal without paying the $11,000 permit fee has been arrested in Kathmandu after walking most of the 154km journey from the mountain's base camp.

Davy climbed alone to a height of 7,300m before being found hiding in a cave by officials who confiscated his passport because he did not have a permit to climb Everest.
